3 Reasons For Weight Loss

21 December 2009 0

imagesAmerica is full of people who would greatly benefit from weight loss – sometimes significant weight loss. We have become a nation of computer users, video game players and movie watchers. While this is not inherently bad, we are teaching our children to do the same things; gone are the days when kids played outside with their friends, running around and burning calories. Today they are on the couch next to us. We are doing ourselves and our children no favors by living in this particular style.

Fat on Your Organs -

When a person is obese, it wreaks havoc on their internal organs. Obesity causes the heart to work harder to pump enough blood to the body, especially the extremities. Carrying around extra fat is also difficult on other organs as well. As the fat begins to build up, it takes up space within the abdominal cavity where it pushes organs such as the liver, kidneys and even the intestines out of their rightful place. Being pushed by the fat causes the organs to be unable to work at their natural capacity, therefore causing failing health.

Obesity and Pregnancy -

The above mentioned organs are not the only ones that have issues when we carry extra weight. A woman who is obese can experience issues with the menstrual cycle, and often obesity can halt the cycle completely. If an overweight woman does get pregnant, her likelihood of developing gestational diabetes increases. This not only poses a threat to her health, but to the health of an unborn baby as well. A good, solid weight loss program can help an overweight woman who is trying to conceive succeed.

Joint Pain -

Anyone who is overweight will tell you that one of the most obvious symptoms that they deal with on a day to day basis is joint pain. Painful knees, sore back and tired feet are all symptoms of weight related aches and pains. Often times this pain is tied directly to fluctuating weight, gaining and losing weight multiple times over a long period of time can have horrible effects on the knees.

What You Can Do -

Thankfully, getting to your ideal weight during your weight loss struggle does not need to be achieved to help with these issues. Often times, most of these can either be completely eliminated or alleviated by a weight loss of just ten percent of your body weight. Just this little bit can help not only the organ and pregnancy issues that people face, but can help with the joint issues also.

However, it is important not to start any type of weight loss regimen, including an exercise program without first speaking with your doctor. Depending upon the starting weight, your doctor may want to run a few tests to be sure that your road to weight loss does not cause any unneeded damage to your body.

While you are on your weight loss journey, you may find that there are times that you push yourself too hard, that your body is feeling even more painful than it was before. A visit to a chiropractor may be needed. A chiropractor will be able to align your spine to its correct and natural position. Regular adjustments from a chiropractor can help you to keep your focus on your weight loss and not from any uncomfortable results along the way.www.healthsourceofhoustonmemorial.com
