5 Thirst-Quenching Foods

Whoa there Mr. “Carry a gallon water jug with you everywhere” guy. You don’t need do get all your water through the wet stuff! Several foods are chock full of H2O and can carry some of the hydration weight. Here are 5 that you might want to consider sipping on now:

Cucumber: These pre-pickles are 96 percent water…the most of any solid food. Throw a few on your salad for a nice refreshing crunch.

Tomatoes: With 94% water, these are rich in lycopene—a cancer fighting antioxidant—and are dynamite on a sandwich with just a touch of mayo.

Bell Peppers: Awesome in Tex-Mex food, these mild peppers come in several color varieties and are 92% water.

Cauliflower: This bad boy cousin to broccoli has been shown to lower cholesterol and has begun to find it’s role replacing red meat in several dishes (try some cauliflower steaks on the grill some time!), but it’s also a thirst quenching vegetable coming in at 92% water.

Watermelon: With more cancer fighting lycopene than tomato, this fruit is a perfect sweet summertime treat because it gives you 92 percent water and 6 percent sugar.
