Today my team and I were thinking about the fact that there are some fruits that I never purchase at the store. One of those fruits is known as a fig and NO I don’t mean Fig Newton’s! They pack some nutritious punch when it comes to HEALTH and can be found Dried or fresh. Figs are available all around the season; however, they are at their best from May through November.

Fact 1:

One Fresh Fig packs 1.4 grams (5.8%) of your daily fiber and contains about 37 calories. What does fiber help with? Protection against post-menopausal breast cancer, Prevention of colon cancer, Lower cholesterol, Prevention of constipation

Fact 2:

The fig is a wonderful source of potassium, which helps control blood pressure.

Fact 3:

This friendly fruit is packed with nutrients, including vitamin A, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, calcium, iron, phosphorus, manganese, sodium, potassium and chlorine.
