Dr. Molly Bird, D.C.
I became a doctor of chiropractic because I had an injury myself, which left me unable to run (at 21) and unable to even walk without pain. The traditional way of treatment for my condition was “rest” and “medicate or inject”. I could really FEEL there was something off and felt like it needed to be moved. I saw a chiropractor and it changed my life completely. I had pain relief and was back to running in 2 weeks without pain! I changed my career path from chemical dependency counseling to chiropractic mostly because it was the most evidence based, the safest, and most cost effective way to treat conditions like I had experienced. I graduated from NorthWestern Health Sciences University with a Doctorate in Chiropractic and a Bachelors in Human Biology.
One thing I noticed was that the pain relief didn’t last long however, and so until I did rehab to strengthen muscles and loosen tight tissue around my back, my pain relief was short lived and came back often. Chiropractic coupled with rehab, muscle work and nutrition basics was life changing not only for me but for my patients now. I am very passionate about what I do because people have incredible results when you treat all aspects of the issue instead of just one. Chiropractic, rehab, massage and nutrition are all wonderful individually but together they are really incredible. I want to provide the least amount of care for the maximum benefit for our patients so they need us less in the future. I have a focus in sports medicine and nutrition because I love learning about it and it gives great patient results.
I love treating families and children, and will be starting my diplomat in pediatrics Sep 2017. As a parent of soon to be 2 young boys, my husband and I (who is also a doctor of chiropractic) found it very frustrating to see all the very different and conflicting recommendations that we get for how to raise our kids. Everything from what to feed them, to baby carriers, to what shoes to put them in is debated and creates frustration when we just want to do the right thing. Thankfully most of it has a solid amount of evidence that can point us in the right direction. I believe part of my job is to clear up that cloud of noise with great evidence so we know were are doing the right thing.
